Martyn’s Law, named in memory of a victim of the 2017 Manchester Arena bomb attack at an Ariana Grande concert, is reportedly just weeks away from being passed by Parliament in the U.K. The legislation aims to enforce stricter anti-terror measures at live music venues, requiring staff to undergo more training and implementing enhanced security protocols. Figen Murray, the mother of Martyn Hett who was killed in the attack, has been a driving force behind the law. Once passed, the law will mandate anti-terror training for staff at venues with a capacity over 200, along with increased security measures like bag checks, body searches, and CCTV cameras. “Martyn’s legacy will forever be one of hope and love,” Murray told The Mirror. “This victory will be for him and all the millions of young people, like him, who attend venues to enjoy themselves” The attack, which killed 22 and injured over 1,000, occurred when a terrorist detonated a homemade bomb as fans were leaving the concert venue following Grande’s performance.
